Why would Barack Obama choose to give a controversial speech attacking American capitalism in Osawatomie, Kansas?

Hang on? Where have I heard that name before? Osawatomie? ….back in the ’70s? Weather Underground terrorists… Bill Ayers, Bernardine Dohrn. Didn’t Obama used to hang out with those guys?

I remember! Osawatomie was the publication of the Weather Underground!

I’m well aware of those who would ridicule Trevor’s piece as reactionary and over the top.  After all, there’s simply no way that Obama would be this intentionally radical.

That’s just crazy.

We’d next have to believe that the President spent 20 years, well over 1,000 weeks, in a radical church spewing bigotry and anti-semitism.

Or that the President would appoint people with ties to Marxist and Communist groups to head government agencies.

Or that he would go on apology tours and bow to foreign heads of state and pal around with communist dictators.

Or that he would call Americans lazy while playing more rounds of golf than any President in history, all while the economy goes in the crapper largely due to his policies and he’s blaming the do-nothing Congress.

Or that he would treat Israel’s Prime Minister with open disdain.

Or that he would state that America’s exceptional, just like other countries think they’re exceptional.

All of that’s just crazy.  I mean, who in hell could believe it.

Young and old, black and white, rich and poor were sent to 'el paredón' (the wall). Many of those who helped Castro gain power, like Comandantes Ernesto Sori Marin and William Morgan, an American, were among the thousands who were shot. Acabo de ver una entrevista filmada por “VIMEO” en el Internet. Dicha entrevista se la hacen a Reinaldo Escobar, conocido en Cuba entre sus amigos por “Macho Rico”, pareja de la bloguera Yoanis Sánchez. Esta entrevista es parte de una serie hecha a disidentes por parte del proyecto Cuba Money Project del Gobierno de EE.UU., el cual les envía dinero a muchos “disidentes” en La Isla, para que escriban y denuncien irregularidades del Sistema Castro-Comunista. Proyecto siempre tratando de promover un cambio pacífico en aquel infierno Tiránico-Estalinista.


Las preguntas en la entrevista no se oyen bien. Escobar es una persona preparada de corte netamente socialista, que maneja con su verbo dialéctico su historia personal, su pensamiento y obra. En historia personal, relata su gran diferencia de años con Yoanis y otros asuntos personales sin importancia. Lo que si importa es su explicación de su trayectoria y oposición protestataria pacífica como disidente.


Y por eso cabe revisar y preguntarle directamente, sobre sus acciones y verdadera posición frente a la situación que ha imperado e impera en Cuba por más de medio siglo.


El entrevistado no dice que desde que tenía catorce años en 1961era un furibundo Fidelista. Tampoco habla cuando cumplió 16 años en 1963 de su alistamiento en el Ejercito Rebelde, y de su trabajo en la cohetería, recibida de la ex Unión Soviética.


Y la pregunta es; ¿Si usted sabía, que desde el mismo año de 1959 miles de cubanos, siendo la mayoría de origen campesino y obrero se alzaron en armas en los campos de Cuba. para combatir la insipiente Tiranía comunista y derrocarla?


Usted debió saber de los fusilamientos, abusos de Poder, robo, asesinatos e injustas condenas a largos años de presidio a mujeres y hombres “cubanos” que no acataron la doctrina marxista y la combatieron con todas sus fuerzas y medios a sus alcances.


Según una entrevista que le hizo a usted el periódico El Mundo de España, usted dijo que en 1970 cuando tenia 23 años usted trabajaba arduamente en Camagüey, su provincia natal, en la estúpida llamada “ Zafra de los diez Millones”, haciendo números de estadística para el INRA.


Según usted dijo, en 1970 después del fracaso de esa Zafra, usted todavía seguía creyendo en Fidel. Menos mal que en aquel entonces ya en la Cuba Castrista no se creía en la llegada de Los Reyes Magos.


Según sus propias palabras usted estuvo trabajando en varios medios informativos del Régimen, el último fue en el periódico (libelo) Juventud Rebelde, órgano oficial de la Unión de Jóvenes Comunistas (UJC), del cual fue separado en 1988, o sea, después de 29 años de control total de la prensa por el Régimen.


Durante la entrevista en “VIMEO” usted hablo de las injerencias Norteamericanas en el mundo, y que no quisiera otra mas fuera en Cuba. Sepa usted que ningún cubano digno quiere una intervención extranjera en suelo Patrio, pero cuando los Soviéticos estaban en posesión de La Isla de Cuba, usted no protesto, ni alzo la voz. ¿Sera eso parte importante del doble estándar de muchos cubanos disidentes?


Usted se refiere a Raúl Castro como Presidente del Gobierno de Cuba.


Y preguntamos: ¿Usted no sabe que Raúl Castro es el Tirano sucesor de Fidel?


Usted habla sobre la revocación del embargo norteamericano, o bloqueo como dicen los comunistas. Usted sabe que ese embargo comercial es en contra del Régimen, no en contra del pueblo de Cuba, y de que decirla de otra forma es dialéctica socialista mal intencionada.


Durante la entrevista en uno de sus análisis usted habla de un pasaje de la historia del cristianismo, que relata de la caída del caballo de un ciudadano romano, que después de caerse se convirtió en cristiano, y le rectificamos que no era Pablo el apóstol, era Saulo de Tarso que después se llamo Pablo y no fue uno de los apóstoles. La comparación de la caída del caballo de Saulo de Tarso con la caída del caballo (Poder) de Raúl Castro, es risible, inapropiada y mal intencionada.


Usted dice que la disidencia ha trabajado un espacio en la sociedad en Cuba, y que se lo ha ganado. Usted sabe bien que ese Régimen no da espacio ninguno, solo tolera y manipula por conveniencia. Usted debe de saber bien que si el Régimen le da la orden al General Adalberto Rabeiro, jefe de Represión Nacional de la sección 10 del MININT radicada en “Villa Marista”, de acabar con toda la disidencia, esto se hace en un momento. Y hay que repetir otra vez, a la llamada lucha pacífica de la disidencia y los llamados opositores, El Régimen la tolera y manipula para su propaganda de Libertades en Los Foros Internacionales.


En su análisis final usted habla de las diferentes formas que pueden ocurrir para que en Cuba haya un “cambio”. Usted considera que las mejores son las pacificas a largo plazo, mejor dicho, a larguísimo plazo. Esta forma de que se produzca “un cambio” a largo plazo cuando todos los jerarcas de La Tiranía mueran de muerte natural, y que sus sucesores empiecen a cambiar para un Socialismo del Siglo XXI no es aceptable, pues de esta manera se está jugando con la Libertad y Soberanía de Cuba, la cual no es ni canjeable, ni negociable en ninguna forma o manera. Y esto tiene que estar bien claro, como lo está entre los cubanos dignos y decentes que no tienen dos o más caras.


Mi generación, la de la lucha combativa contra Batista y luego contra el Castro comunismo en la década de los sesenta, ha pagado un precio muy alto en vidas y largas condenas de prisiones para obtener la Libertad de CUBA, NUESTRA PATRIA. Y no cejaremos en el empeño  mientras vivamos.

Desde el 10 de noviembre, tras más de medio 
siglo de prohibición, el régimen castrista reabrió el mercado inmobiliario en la isla. 
Los cubanos ya pueden negociar sus propiedades. Al menos, en teoría...


Roberto López madrugó temprano en el Registro de la Propiedad de Arroyo Naranjo.
 Tiene planes de dividir su casa. Una parte la donará a su única nieta, la otra la venderá. 
A sus 70 años, necesita recursos para sobrevivir. Alcanzó el número diez en la cola,
pero cuando lo atendieron le informaron que no podía inscribir su casa.
Con la entrada en vigor de las normas decretadas por el Consejo de Estado que
 modifican la legislación en materia de vivienda, los propietarios cubanos corren
 en masa a las Notarías y Registros de la Propiedad, para poner sus títulos a tono 
con las nuevas exigencias legales.
Las ya tradicionales colas para ser atendido en estas instituciones comienzan en
 la madrugada y siempre quedan personas sin atender al final de la jornada. 
Es que todo no está resuelto. Se acortó el tiempo para realizar los trámites, 
pero el Estado no cuenta con una adecuada infraestructura, ni con el personal 
suficiente para enfrentar la demanda de servicios jurídicos que requiere la nueva normativa.
No importa, los cubanos ya están acostumbrados. Con una paciencia increíble, 
aguardan su turno para ser atendidos. Sin embargo, no son pocos los disconformes. 
No es fácil, después de esperar cuatro horas en la cola, recibir la noticia de que 
no puede realizarse el trámite por omisiones y errores que no son culpa de los 
ciudadanos, sino de la autoridad que emitió la documentación.
"Usted debe actualizar su título, para poder inscribir su casa en el Registro de
 la Propiedad" le informa el especialista a Roberto. El trámite es obligatorio 
para los que pretendan vender, permutar o donar sus casas. ¿Qué significa eso?,
 preguntó el anciano desconcertado.
"A la descripción de su casa le faltan las medidas, los linderos y también la superficie", 
respondió el abogado que lo atendió. Una omisión que padecen la mayoría de
los títulos de propiedad, emitidos antes del 2003.
"Primero, usted debe ir a la oficina del arquitecto de la comunidad y solicitar sus 
servicios para que le realicen un dictamen técnico y de tasación, después, con 
el documento de Arquitectura debe presentarse en la notaría para que subsane 
las omisiones y luego regresa a solicitar la inscripción de su propiedad", 
agregó el especialista.
Suena sencillo, pero el trámite implica madrugar y perder un día de trabajo haciendo 
una cola para ver al arquitecto, otra para el notario y una tercera para el Registrador 
de la Propiedad. Sin contar el tiempo que insume cada trámite. "Al parecer, mis planes
 demorarán, por lo mínimo, tres meses más", comentó sin entusiasmo el señor López.
Pero el comprador de la casa de Roberto no está dispuesto a esperar. Planea pagar
 para agilizar los trámites. La premura vale en cualquier parte del mundo, pero para
 el gobierno cubano significa corrupción, una de sus enconadas luchas en el plano interno.
Es así como comienza la aplicación de la normativa aprobada recientemente en la isla. 


Permite la compraventa de viviendas y eliminó una de las fuentes de ilegalidades. 
También aumentó el volumen de trabajo de funcionarios estatales, pero dejó intactos 
sus salarios. No cabe duda de que la corrupción y prevaricación de estos agentes, 
queda como tarea pendiente.

At the time of those tragic events, I was apalled and consternated about the lack of feelings and compassion for the  25 years old mother of Elian who did all she could to save the life of her son ...She was hardly mentioned and her sacrifice was not even an issue for the Medias and the organizations who later supported the return of Elian to the "paradise" and his -- suddenly -- caring father . Curious enough, the guy got out of Cuba  faster than any one ever could. Cubans trying to get out of there know how difficult and costly and painstaking it is to get out legally...the other more expeditive alternative is : the rafts or small boats or even the landing  gear of a trans-oceanic airplane...

Elian's mother  just couldn't survive after the dangerous raft journey but she did all what  she could to save her son and finally , a miracle : God took care of her six yrs.

Most parents escaping from the Castro's "paradise"

HAVANA -- Elian Gonzalez, the Cuban boy who survived a perilous raft journey that killed his mother and became a symbol of troubled relations between the United States and Cuba, is now an adult.
Gonzalez currently studies at a military academy on the island and took part in an 18th birthday celebration Tuesday in his native city of Cardenas alongside his father, according to images broadcast on the nightly news.
Gonzalez was shy of his sixth birthday on Thanksgiving Day 1999 when a fisherman found him off the coast of Florida, clinging to an inner tube after his mother and others fleeing Cuba drowned trying to reach American soil.
He was taken to live with relatives in Miami but his father, who was separated from his mother and had remained on the island, demanded that the boy be sent back, saying Elian was taken without his consent. The dispute turned into a headline-grabbing international custody battle that weighed heavy on the 2000 presidential race between George W. Bush and Al Gore.
Fidel Castro threw the weight of the Cuban government behind the case, mobilizing seven months of massive demonstrations calling for Gonzalez's repatriation.
It was one of the few moments since 1959 when the Cold War rivals agreed on something: The U.S. legal system ruled that Gonzalez should be returned to his father.
But Gonzalez's Miami relatives refused to relinquish him, and on April 22, 2000, federal agents raided Elian's uncle's home in Little Havana and seized the boy from a closet at gunpoint. He returned to Cuba two months later.
On Tuesday, Elian spoke by phone with Rene Gonzalez, a Cuban intelligence agent who was released from prison in the U.S. in October but was ordered to serve three years' parole in the country. Cuba is demanding his return and has made his case and that of the other "Cuban Five" a cause celebre.
"He wished me a happy birthday," said Elian.
The two are not related.

Hatuey Beer Returns as a Microbrew

The new Hatuey is close in spirit to the original.
«The new Hatuey (pronounced ah-TWAY) Beer returned to bars, 
restaurants and liquor stores in Miami-Dade and Monroe
counties this past summer. 


The original Hatuey was first produced in Santiago de Cuba 
around 1927. 
By 1959 it was Cuba's favorite cerveza to the tune of 
12 million cases sold per year. 
Bacardi introduced a different Hatuey Beer to the United 
States in the mid-1990s, but it was taken off the market 
nearly two years ago in preparation for the rollout of this 
new brand.


"The previous version was a Lager style beer, a bit lighter," 
explains Anler Morejon, Hatuey's brand manager. 
"This one is a Pale Ale with more body and flavor."
 In a way, Mr. Morejon is understating his case. 


Hatuey is micro-brewed by Thomas Creek Brewery in Greenville, 
South Carolina, and despite the name and history it can now be 
considered a premium American craft beer...and yet, the flavor is said 
by older Cubans to bear a close resemblance to the iconic original.


Morejon was born in Cuba, but left the island in 1990 at the age of 13. 
Because he was a minor he has no memories of the beer, and "my father is 
not a drinker, so we never talked about it." Now it is Anler's job to talk 
about it.


"Hatuey is available all over the city and in the Keys. The rollout plan 
for the rest of the state will be early to mid-2012." It won't go 
national right away, but the second expansion, planned for later 2012, 
will bring it "to certain markets, i.e. New York, New Jersey, North 
Carolina, and Illinois." Hatuey Beer retails for about $8.99 per six-pack.


Craft beers are the fastest growing segment of the beer industry, and 
upscale Hispanic purchasing clout is likewise on the rise. When 
production of the last Hatuey was halted, sales were at around 15,000 
cases annually. That's the sales projection for the first year of the 
new brew. "We would like to pick it up where we left off," Anler explains.


There are light and dark versions of Hatuey. "At one point in Cuba we 
had a light and dark version of the beer, so both releases in the U.S. 
have been based on both original formulas from Cuba." When Morejon is 
asked which beer on the market is closest to Hatuey in flavor, he 
perhaps predictably replies "There's no other similar beer that I've 
tasted."


"Craft beer" implies a brew that matches well with food. Morejon's 
favorite Hatuey pairings are "roasted chicken with white rice and beans, 
or roasted pork with moros. And for dessert, a good flan con coco." I'm 
not certain whether Mr. Morejon really thinks flan con coco pairs best 
with beer, or if he just can't resist having that treat for dessert 
regardless of his beverage.


Not only does Hatuey go well with food, it apparently also goes well in
it. Tomorrow, a Hatuey chef will share a couple of recipes with us -- 
including a beer glaze for roast ham, just in time for the holidays.

THE DICTATORSHIP AND THE INTERNET CASE

The Internet... case .
This is another proof  against the repressive
 dictatorial regime in Cuba.




The prohibition and inaccessibility -- for the cubans -- 
to  the Internet  is a fact  that no one can deny.


It is a fact well known to all of us, cubans, inside 
and outside of  the gulag. 
But not only the Internet access to the outside world is 
impossible or just for a few priviledged ones that have 
access to it, the real fact is that it is also prohibitive
-- in cost -- for any cuban  earning  pesos, simply because 
the access must be paid in dollars or euros ! 
In a country where salaries are in Pesos !


There are a couple of other new Technologies  devices 
or gadgets that the cuban dictatorship has prohibited too.
The cuban people can not use or have parabolic TV antenas.


Recently a cuban living abroad went on visit to Cuba and had 
the wrong idea,an anodine one for anyone who lives 
in any free nation, to take  with a GPS . At the customs --
the Security State Political Police that are almost the totallity
of all the employees at cuban airports -- got this person to a 
room for interrogation where for three hours they were trying 
to find if she was in Cuba for a terrorist mission ?
In short, for these repressors of Democracy or Freedom,a GPS
is a terrorist weapon !!!  SIC !

El gobierno de Cuba no escatima recursos y esfuerzos en lograr que 
Internet, es decir la informacion, no llegue al pueblo cubano.


El gobierno cubano vive enfrascado en una lucha constante en tratar que 
Internet no circule libremente en la poblacion. La "intranet", una red 
creada por el gobierno para el uso nacional y que solo esta disponible 
para funcionarios del gobierno, algunos medicos y profesores de 
universidades asi como a artistas comprometidos y que es aborrecida por 
todos, esta intranet bloquea los principales pÃginas de periodicos 
internacionales asi como todas las paginas que de alguna forma u otra 
critiquen al gobierno de Cuba.


Se han creado varios engendros entre los que se destacan "EcuRed", una 
enciclopedia online que copia el formato y las herramientas de busqueda 
del portal Wikipedia y en donde Estados Unidos es el imperio de nuestra 
epoca, por supuesto que los pocos navegantes cubanos prefieren el sitio 
original. La ultima iniciativa por controlar la red de redes es una 
version local de Facebook donde solo se puede acceder desde la isla e 
ideada "como un punto de encuentro virtual para las universidades 
cubanas", por supuesto solo podrÃn acceder los funcionarios del gobierno 
y a traves de la intranet.


Cuba es uno de los pocos paises que censuran la transmision en linea y 
limitan o acosan consistentemente a sus usuarios. El promedio de acceso 
a Internet de los cubanos es el mas bajo del Hemisferio Occidental, 
incluso mas bajo que en el pais mas pobre, Haiti .


En Cuba en los pocos sitios donde se puede acceder a Internet como 
cibercafeterias y hoteles se cobra una tarifa sumamente alta que oscila entre 
$8 y $12  .
Tteniendo en cuenta que los cubanos a no ser que trabajen en el 
turismo no perciben su salario en dolares y el sueldo mas alto solo 
equivale a $20 al mes, sumenle que las conecciones son muy lentas y en 
el mercado negro estas llegan a costar $40 o $50 algo mucho mas 
inalcanzable para el cubano de a pie.


Afortunadamente esta es una guerra perdida, ya que 
la tecnologia avanza a pasos agigantados y cada dia 
le serà  mÃs dificil al regimen cubano de controlar la
informacion que es el producto mas buscado y cotizado en el 
mercado negro, los cubanos pagan lo que sea por revistas extranjeras, 
libros prohibidos, DVD con videos de noticieros extranjeros aunque en la 
capital es donde mas trasiego existe  de este fenomeno que se ha 
extendido poco a poco a las demÃs provincias y rincones de la isla,
 la informacion aunque atrasada y escueta logra colarse por las 
rendijas de la gran pared que el gobierno a construido para que 
los cubanos no logren informarse, asi lo que antes solo eran rumores
y comentarios ahora en cuestion de dias o semanas los cubanos
trafican con los videos de los artistas y deportistas cubanos que 
se escaparon y pueden seguir de alguna manera u otra sus carreras, 
es solo cuestion de tiempo en que la libre informacion llegue a 
todos los cubanos, la tecnologia se encargara de ello.
